What we really search in life actually? Do we wish to earn enormous amount of money someday, for us to buy the whole world? Would it be the ultimate job, the dream job that we always desire for? Or whether to become on top of the world, leading the humanity towards better future or etc? Or maybe dreaming of becoming among the top students on campus?
The thing is, would it satisfy us once we have all those within our grasp? If that is true, why there are some people with some of things listed above commit suicide, do drugs and mess up their lives utterly? Imagined that, one day, you received a million dollars cheque, from a reality show, would you be happy with only that much of money? How about receiving a certificate upon our graduation, all by ourselves? Indeed, to me, it is sharing the golden moment with someone is certainly much more satisfying than achieving all those dreams themselves. Sharing all those experiences and our joy in getting what we want, are what our hearts really yearn for. It is the relationships between us that we want.
In some researches, people do believe that relationships bring more happiness and joy in lives, compared to all those. Relationships or connections we have between other people make us worth a lot, having someone to depend or dependable of make us feel secure.
Yet, most of these connections and relationships don’t last long as much as we want to. Our lives take us away from all these connections. We began studying overseas, parting away from the loved ones, as our jobs take us outstations and all kinds of other commitments. In the end, the friends that we used to hang out before, seems monotonous to us now and the chemistry we once had with the loved ones seems to become blurry.
So, how on earth are us to stay happy then?
I simply don’t have the answer yet, but to my view, one way is in finding a connection that is long lasting, that is with our creator, Allah.
But one may ask, how do we connect with something we don’t see, hear or know? Wouldn’t it be impossible? Well, we actually see Him through his creations, we hear him through his commandments and guarantees in Al-Qur’an and we really know Him through His traits. By right, we should know Him thoroughly. We connect to Him through prayers, and he answers it back within the holy book, long before we were born, and would still be relevant for our children to search for their own answers. All we have to do is to look through it.
The best thing is, this long lasting connection would remain with us, as long as He permits us to live, no matter where we are, or what condition we are in. It costs nothing. It shall never fade away, as long as we keep to the connectors between Him and us.
Religion, it’s all about connecting.
